About Besnik Çaku

Besnik Xhevat Çaku was born in 1951 in Shkodër, Albania. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong talent for mathematics and the exact sciences.

He studied Mathematics at the University of Tirana and began his career as a teacher, later serving as a school principal in Tamarë and Fierzë. During this time, he earned the respect of both students and colleagues for his professionalism, dedication, and integrity.

In the early 1980s, he returned to Shkodër and began teaching mathematics at the local high school, the Gjimnazi “28 Nëntori”. Over the years, through his hard work and commitment, he was appointed Vice Principal, making a significant contribution to the education and development of generations of students.

He later served at the Shkodër Regional Education Directorate, where he continued his work with honesty, fairness, and a deep commitment to the advancement of the education system in Albania. He also taught at the Shkodër Technical School, contributing to both mathematics and technology education.

In 2000, Besnik immigrated to Canada with his wife and three daughters. Although he embraced the opportunities that Canada offered to him and his family, he maintained a deep love for Shkodër and Albania and remained strongly connected to his roots. At the age of 50, he began a new chapter as an immigrant, a journey marked by personal sacrifice, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He placed particular importance on ensuring that his three daughters were well-positioned to succeed and contribute meaningfully to their new life in Canada.

Besnik Çaku passed away on December 20, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, dedication, and a lifelong commitment to education, community, and service.
